Medicine is Changing

Our job is becoming less and less about data compilation and encyclopedic memorization.  Our response to this should be not doing less thinking... but more thinking.

We need to cultivate our ability to rapidly synthesize complex information, frame the right questions, and make high-stakes decisions in gray-zones.  What's going to get us there is not answering multiple choice questions or blindly following algorithms, it is building true expertise.  What's the best way to do that?  Working a hard shift of sick patients, and then talking it through with experienced emergency medicine and critical care educators.

Welcome to the Rapid Sequence ED.
